An RSS feed (or news feed) is a means by which you can stay informed about what's going on at More Harmony without having to regularly visit the website.
To make use of an RSS feed, you need some "feed reader" (or "aggregator") software. Most modern web browsers have feed readers built in.
The RSS feeds for More Harmony are listed below...
The Chairperson is the head of More Harmony's committee. She is responsible for chairing our monthly meetings and for liaising with all of the committee to ensure that each member's important roles are being fulfilled properly. When there are vacancies on the committee, the Chairperson will aim to help fill these as soon as possible. Any serious non-musical issues or complaints will be passed to the Chair who will deal with them quickly and sensitively, usually alongside other appropriate committee members. The Chairperson liaises regularly with the Musical Director to ensure that More Harmony are on track with our goals and that members are aware of what is expected of them. She also liaises with LABBS where necessary.
Our Musical Director works with chorus both as a whole and in sections to ensure that we are singing at our best and staying on track when it comes to our musical goals. She is a source of help and support to all members and does her best to share her extensive musical knowledge with the section leaders and the wider chorus, leading warm ups and giving us things to work on at rehearsal. Our MD assesses audition recordings and provides feedback to singers. The MD is responsible for the musical direction of the chorus and will, along with the wider music team, set goals and come up with areas for us to improve on. It is important that all members listen to the MD during rehearsal and give her their full attention, as she may change elements of songs, making them different to the teach tracks. If the MD wants a part slowed down, for example, she will indicate this verbally during rehearsal and with hand gestures as we are singing.
The MD also works alongside the Events Secretary to ensure we have enough singers for performances and will come up with setlists for these performances. She is responsible for choosing Section Leaders for all four parts of the chorus and for delegating responsibilities to these leaders.
Our chorus secretary prepares agendas for chorus committee meetings and takes minutes at those meetings, which she then uploads into the members' area of the chorus website. She handles all of our chorus correspondance and liases with each of the committee members on a variety of chorus matters. She also liaises with the Chairperson to ensure all important documents pertaining to the running of More Harmony are up to date and readily available to all members.
The chorus treasurer is in charge of More Harmony's bank account and acts as a co-signatory on any cheques we send. She is responsible for helping members set up their direct debits and for keeping on top of all of the chorus income and outgoings. She liaises with the Chairperson in order to ensure that all legal, regulatory and statutory requirements in respect of finance and accounting are complied with and makes certain that any valuable items belong to chorus are safely stored. The treasurer has a responsibility to work with the committee to ensure that the chorus never spends beyond its means and to provide timely remunuerations for expenses occurred by chorus members. The treasurer always has bank balances and invoices etc available to be viewed at chorus committee meetings and compiles an annual balance sheet for AGM each year. Our treasurer also looks for grants the chorus might wish to apply for and submits applications with assistance/approval from the Chairperson and Musical Director.
The PRO manages all of More Harmony's social media channels, creating content and sharing it regularly. She writes monthly articles on the chorus website as well as regular contributions to LABBS' VoiceBox magazine. The PRO takes any media requests chorus gets and looks for opportunities to share what we've been up to with the local press. The PRO works to ensure that the chorus ethos - "more friendship, more fun, more harmony" - always comes across in anything we share on social media. She has a responsibility to create a positive impression of the chorus and to ensure that we are always inclusive.
The Events Secretary keeps an eye out for any local events or singing opportunities the chorus may wish to take part in. She is also the main point of contact for anyone planning an event who may wish to book More Harmony. When an event request is received, the Events Secretary will contact the MD to let her know and once an event has been agreed on, the Events Secretary will let members know and will pass on all important details, such as where to go and what time to arrive. She liaises with the treasurer to ensure any payments owed to chorus following a performance are paid promptly. The Events Secretary works closely with the PRO to ensure any events are well advertised across social media and in the local press. She is the person to go to if you think you may have found a performance opportunity worth looking into or if you have any questions about an upcoming event.
Our Fundraising Officer comes up with ideas to raise money for good causes and keeps an eye on opportunities to collect for chorus, too. She works closely with the Treasurer to ensure all money collected is dealt with properly and responsibly. She liaises with the PRO to make sure our fundraising is mentioned in our social media posts and in any press we may do. If you have a fundraising idea, the Fundraising Officer will help - along with the wider commitee - to make it a reality if possible!
Our Membership Secretary is the official point of contact for new singers considering joining More Harmony and is responsible for greeting new members and guiding them through the process of joining our chorus. She keeps track of attendance at rehearsals and informs the committee when there are any problems with a particular member. She keeps a record of contact details for members as well as a log of birthdays. She liaises with the Membership Rep on any issues members may mention and works with the chorus PRO as well as the MD with regards to advertising strategies aimed at growing our membership. She ensures we have clear, up-to-date information for new singers. The Membership Secretary is also our main point of contact with LABBS. The Membership Secretary is the person to tell if you're going to be absent from chorus, particularly if you'll be absent for a number of weeks!
The Membership Representative is the person to go to with any suggestions or queries for the committee to discuss at their monthly meetings. She arranges our chorus social nights and makes the effort to get to know everyone and be a friendly face to new members at rehearsal.
